Guido Kooiman

Born in Utrecht, I now live and work in the heart of Weesp. From my studio here, I create paintings and illustrations between the figurative and abstract.

My process is often a search for colour and rhythm. I spend a lot of time with my 'box' of pigments, mixing specific hues to get the patterns exactly right. It's a matter of observing and refining until the form feels balanced.

In my illustrations, I tend to favour a down-to-earth perspective, often with a slight touch of humour or subtle social commentary. No grand theories — just work rooted in personal experience, aimed at provoking a small smile or a moment of reflection.
